Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresde
The IFW Dresden is devoted to fundamental and applied research and development, with particular emphasis on the fields of solid state and materials research. An important research field is the development of superconducting tapes and melt-textured YBCO bulk material. The IFW Dresden the Institute has presently about 400 staff members.
Research focus:
- Superconductivity and superconductors
- Magnetism and magnetic materials
- Molecular nanostructures and molecular solids
- Metastable alloys
- Layer materials for electronics
- stress-driven architectures and devices
• Electrochemical energy-storage systems / Li ion batteries
• Investigation of impact and degradation mechanisms under real operation conditions
• Development of new electrode materials for Li intercalation batteries / for high-power applications
• Metallic anode materials based on amorphous compounds
• Development of miniaturized energy storage devices for autonomous systems based on nanomembrane materials (micro Li ion batteries and micro supercapacitors)
