Development, manufacture and sales of rail vehicles for the local, regional and long-distance transport of people
Since the year 1849, railway vehicles have been built in the Görlitz wagon building factory. With the successful development of motor vehicles, double deck cars and bogies, the East Saxon Company wrote a part of railway history. Since the year 1948, more than 17,000 railway vehicles (out of those approximately 7,000 double deck cars) have been delivered to various domestic and foreign railway companies.
Since 1998, Görlitz site has belonged to the railway sector of Bombardier. Today’s site of Bombardier Transportation is the biggest industrial employer of the city and a stable location within the international set-up of the Bombardier group. Since the year 1990, the Görlitz wagon building factory has been fundamentally restructured and modernised. Innovative technologies and production process flows
are the basis for placing top products on the national and international market.
The competencies of the site are located in the field of the construction of car bodies and in the construction of complete vehicles, such as metros and passenger cars, in particular double deck cars.
