Infineon offers semiconductor and system solutions for automotive, industrial and multimarket sectors, for applications in communication, as well as memory products. The worldwide operating semiconductor company employs more than 40,000 people.
Infineon Technologies Dresden is the biggest development- and production site within the Infineon Technologies AG. It produces logic chips that find applications in computing, in the automotive or communications industry. The site comprises two modules of a 200mm fab and one 300mm module. Infineon Technologies was the first manufacturer world-wide to develop fabrication of 300mm wafers in cooperation with Motorola at the Dresden plant, and to lead them to series readiness. Today, the Dresden 300 module is reference fab within the Infineon fab- and partner cluster network. Basic technologies from development are brought to series readiness here, and are then transferred to all the other factories. This results in the so-called "fab cluster" - a virtual, shared fabrication center. The integrated R&D and production is a major competitive advantage for the company. Since 1994 Infineon invested more than 4 billions EURO in the Dresden site.
Today Infineon Dresden employs more than 1,800 people
