The Institut Chemnitzer Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V. (ICM e.V.; Incorporated Association) was founded in 1992; it has 74 members. Since 2006, ICM e.V. has been recognized as a private research institution. Since 1998, the research tasks have been carried out in two specialist departments:
1. Product innovation
- Process control in plant construction,
- Special technologies for complete processing,
- Recycling technologies, Ergonomics.
2. Process innovation
- Network development, Innovation processes,
- Object-oriented cooperation development,
- Innovative supply structures.
The ICM e.V. is a powerful research institute for innovations and system solutions in the mechanical and plant engineering and since 1992, it is operating as a SME competent partner for the establishment of stimulating ideas in the innovation to generate corporate success and growth. With ICM e.V. SMEs can capture problems and work on suitable solutions. Therefore, the provision of research capacity is representing a challenge. Starting with personal conditions, up to needed soft and hardware, companies are not always able to make these resources fully available. There, ICM e.V. contributes to it whether as a research and development partner or in the course of project coordination. Here, the resources and competences of the institute are used target oriented, partners are supported with research competence within the product development and with the know-how in project management in research cooperation. Since 2006, ICM e.V. has been a member of the Initiative Networks of Competence Germany.
